squid

A few days ago my sister decided that she'd like nothing more than for me to make her and her friend a crocheted squid. I made it for her and it's now sitting sadly under her bed, unwanted and unloved. But still, it meant that a new pattern got made, which I can now share with you.

Difficulty:

medium - easy

You will need:
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • dk yarn in black and the colour you wanted to make your squid
  • toy stuffing
  • a darning needle

For the body and the tenticals:
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep  to end (18sc)
Round 3: sc in the first 2 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end. ch1, turn (24sc)
Rounds 4 - 13: (10 rounds) sc in each st (24sc)
Round 14: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (18sc)
Round 15: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
Round 16: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (8sc)
Round 19 (this round makes up the tentacles): (ch 21, 2sc in 2nd st from hook, 2sc in each ch stitch, slip the same st at the base of the chain and the next st) 6 times, (fsc16, ch5, 2sc in the 2nd st from hook, 2sc in the next 3 sts, fasten off) rejoin the yarn to the bottom of the chain, repeat the last brackets
Fasten off

Stuff your squid and the sew up the bottom opening. Finally embroider eyes using the black yarn.

Thank you for reading this pattern, I hope you enjoyed it. You are welcome to sell finished products but I do ask that you don't re-post this pattern of claim it as your own. Thank you!
