This is my first micro-crochet pattern. It's a bit fiddly but if you persevere it's worth it.
Difficulty:
Medium - Difficult
You will need:
- Cotton sewing thread in blue, cream and black
- 0.6mm crochet hook
- Sewing needle
- A scrap of yarn (whatever you've got - it doesn't matter)
For the head and body:
(starting at the top of the head)
Using the 0.6mm crochet hook and cream thread make a magic loop with 6 sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (18sc)
Rounds 3 - 7: (5 rows) sc in each
Round 8: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
stuff with a tiny scrap of yarn. You can use stuffing instead but I tend to find that tiny bit's of stuffing escape and get caught up in the crochet, making it look messy.
Round 9: Sc2tog to end (6sc)
Round 10: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 11: sc in the first 3 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (18sc)
Rounds 12 - 14: (2 rounds) sc in each st
Round 15: sc in the first 3 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
Round 16: sc2tog to end (6sc)
Fasten off
For the arms and legs:
Cut 2 pieces of wire - 1 about 2.5 times the length that you want the girl's arm to be, and 1 about 3 times the length that you want her legs to be. If you're unsure how long to make them make the wire a bit longer that you think would be necassary as you can always trim it off later. My legs piece was about 5.8cm long, and the arm piece was about 3.9cm long.
Thread the piece for the arms through the body just below the head and the piece for the legs through the bottom of the body just above the last row. Bend the legs down and fold the end 1.2cm so th``at its at 90 degrees to the rest of the leg. Then curl this end around to make a foot shape. Take a length of yarn roughly as long as your arm and attach it to the top of one of the legs. wind it carefully around the wire down the leg, making sure that you cover it all, until you reach the foot.
The wind it around the foot until you cannot wind it any more without it falling off the end of the foot. After you reach this point use the needle to wind it around the section of wire at the end of the foot, threading your needle through the little gap in the middle of the hook to keep it in place. If you have difficulty understanding what you're meant to do here feel free to comment below and I'll try to make it clearer.
Repeat this with the other leg.
Fold the arms down and fold the last 5mm back on the arm to form the hands. This loop should be thinner than the one for the foot. Repeat the process of winding the yarn around the wire as you did for the legs with the arms in exactly the same way.
For the facial features:
Embroider the eyes on with black yarn. If you want you can sew other features on such as a mouth and nose, but I prefer it with just eyes.
For the hair:
Using the colour you want the hair to be (I used light blue) cut lengths of yarn that are just over twice the length you want the hair to be (my hair was cm long so I cut a length of yarn measuring about cm)
I hope you enjoyed this pattern. As I said above, if you aren't sure about any aspects of the pattern please comment below and I would be happy to help. You are very welcome to sell finished products but please don't re-post this pattern or claim it as your own. Thank you :)
