Little goat

 





This goat is part of my little animals collection, so will fit into any of the clothes made to fit these (a complete list can be found here)

Note: this pattern uses the reverse single crochet stitch. This isn't too difficult, and a helpful video can be found here (You can skip to 0:50 if you don't want to sit through the whole thing)



Difficulty:

Easy - medium



You will need:
  • A 2.5mm crochet hook
  • dk yarn in beige, cream, and fluffy cream
  • 4ply yarn in black and white (you will only need very small amounts of both of these)
  • A darning needle (or similar)
  • Toy stuffing

For the body :
With grey make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep  to end (18sc)
Round 3: sc in the first 2 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end(24sc)
Rounds 4 - 9: (6 rounds) sc in each st (24sc)
Round 10: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (18sc)
Round 11: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
Round 12: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (8sc)
Round 13 - 15: (3 rounds) sc in each st 
Fasten off
Stuff

For the head:
With grey make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: Sc in each st
Round 3: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep  to end (18sc)
Rounds 4 - 5: (2 rounds) sc in each st
Round 6: sc in the first 2 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end(24sc)
Rounds 7 - 10: (4 rounds) sc in each st

Round 11: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (18sc)
Round 12: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
Round 13: sc2tog to end (6sc)
Fasten off


Stuff and sew this head to the body

For the arms (make 2):
With black make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (9sc)
Rounds 2 - 3: (2 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)

Round 4: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (6sc)
Round 5: sc in each st
Fasten off black yarn and fasten on grey yarn.
Rounds 6 - 9: (4 rounds) sc in each st (6sc)
Fasten off
Lightly stuff these arms and sew them to the sides of the body

For the legs (make 2):
With black make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in the first 3 sts, 2cs in the next st, rep to end (15sc)
Rounds 3- 4: (2 rounds) sc in each st (15sc)
Round 5: sc2tog 3 times, sc in the last 9 sts (12sc)
Round 6: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (9sc)

Fasten off. Fasten on in grey yarn
Rounds 7 - 10: (4 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)
Fasten off
Stuff the legs and sew them to the underside of the body


For the tail:
Ch6
Round 1: sc in the first chain st you made, then sc in every following chain st to make a loop (6sc)
Round 2: Sc2tog 3 times to end (3sc)
Round 3: sc in each st
Fasten off
Sew this to the body

Use the fluffy cream yarn to sew a fluffy patch onto the underside of the tail.



For the ears:
Make a magic loop with 3sc. Do not join. Ch1
Row 1: Reverse sc in each st. ch1
Row 2: Sc in each st. ch1
Row 3: Reverse sc3tog
Fasten off
Sew these to the sides of the head


For the horns:
With cream yarn ch6
Round 1: sc in the first chain st you made, then sc in every following chain st to make a loop (6sc)
Round 2: sc in each st
Round 3: Sc2tog, sc in each of the next 4sts (5sc)
Round 4: Sc in the first 3sts, sc2tog (4sc)
Fasten off
Sew these to the head


For the belly patch:
With fluffy cream yarn ch4
Round 1: sc in the 2nd loop from hook, sc in the next loop, 3sc in the last loop (the first chain st you made), sc in the opposite side of the previous loop you crocheted into, 2sc in the opposite side of the first loop you crocheted into (8sc)
Round 2: 2sc inthe first st, sc in the next st, 2sc in each of the next 3sts, sc in the next st, 2sc in the last 2sts (14sc)
Round 3: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, sc in the next 2 sts, (2sc in the first st, sc in the next st) 3 times, (sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st) twice (22sc)
Fasten off
Sew this to the body

For the head patch:
With fluffy cream yarn ch3
Round 1: sc in the 2nd chain st from hook, 3sc in the first chain st you made, 2sc in the back of the first chain st you crocheted into.
Fasten off

For the goatee:
With fluffy cream yarn ch4
Round 1: sc in the first chain st you made, then sc in every following chain st to make a loop (4sc)
Round 2: sc in each st
Fasten off
Sew the cast on edge of this to the chin. 

For the face:
With black yarn embroider two eyes, a nose and a mouth onto your goat. Add highlights to the eyes using white thread.
