June is LGBT pride month, and as such I have made this multicoloured bear in the colours of the pride flag to celebrate.
This bear is an extension of the little bear pattern I made around 3 years ago, meaning that it will fit into any of the clothes made for that collection, a full list of which can be found here.
Difficulty:
easy
- dk weight yarn in white, red, orange, turquoise, green, blue, and purple, plus black for the face
- Black embroidery thread
- toy stuffing
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- darning needle and a regular sewing needle (or embroidery needle)
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (18sc)
Round 3: sc in the first 2 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end. ch1, turn (24sc)
Rounds 4 - 8: (5 rounds) sc in each st (24sc)
Round 9: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (18sc)Round 10: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
Round 11: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (8sc)
Round 12: 2sc in each st (16sc)
Round 13: sc in each st
Round 14: sc in the first 3 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (20sc)
Round 15: sc in each st
Round 16: sc in the first 4 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (24sc)
Rounds 17 - 18: (2 rounds) sc in each st
Round 19: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (18sc)Round 12: 2sc in each st (16sc)
Round 13: sc in each st
Round 14: sc in the first 3 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (20sc)
Round 15: sc in each st
Round 16: sc in the first 4 sts, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (24sc)
Rounds 17 - 18: (2 rounds) sc in each st
Round 20: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (12sc)
Stuff firmly
Round 21: sc2tog to end (6sc)
Fasten off
For the arms (make 2):
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (9sc)
Rounds 2 - 3: (2 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)
Round 4: sc in the first st, sc2tog, rep to end (6sc)
Rounds 5 - 9: (5 rounds) sc in each st (6sc)
Fasten off
Stuff firmly and sew to the sides of the body
For the legs (make 2):
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in the first 3 sts, 2cs in the next st, rep to end (15sc)
Rounds 3- 4: (2 rounds) sc in each st (15sc)
Round 5: sc2tog 3 times, sc in the last 9 sts (12sc)
Round 6: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (9sc)
Rounds 7 - 10: (4 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)
Rounds 3- 4: (2 rounds) sc in each st (15sc)
Round 5: sc2tog 3 times, sc in the last 9 sts (12sc)
Round 6: sc in the first 2 sts, sc2tog, rep to end (9sc)
Rounds 7 - 10: (4 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)
Fasten off
Stuff firmly and sew to the bottom of the body
Stuff firmly and sew to the bottom of the body
For the ears (make one in white and one in red):
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (9sc)
Rounds 2 - 3: (2 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (9sc)
Rounds 2 - 3: (2 rounds) sc in each st (9sc)
Fasten off
Sew these to the top of the head
Sew these to the top of the head
For the tail:
Make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end (9sc)
Round 2: sc in each st (9sc)
Fasten off
Stuff firmly and sew to the body
For the muzzle:
Make a magic loop with 6scRound 1: 2sc in each st (12sc)
Round 2: sc in each st (12sc)
Fasten off
Stuff firmly and sew to the face
For the patches:
With orange make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each of the first 3sts
Fasten off
Sew this patch to the face of the bear
With green make a magic loop with 8sc
Round 1: (3sc in the first st, sc in the next st) 4 times to end (16sc)
Fasten off
Sew this to the body of the bear
With blue yarn ch4
Round 1: sc in the 2nd loop from hook, then sc in the next chain st. Make 3sc in the last chain st (the first one you made), then sc in the back of the previous chain st, before making 2sc into the back of the first chain st you crocheted into
Round 2: slip the first 3sts, then make 2sc in each of the next 3 sts. slip the next st
FAsten off
Sew this to the body
With turquoise make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: Make 2sc into each st (12sc)
Fasten off
Sew this to the back of the bear
Make 2 of each of the following 2 types of patches.
With yellow ch3
Round 1: sc in the 2nd loop from hook, then make 3sc into the next chain st (the first one that you made). Make 2sc into the back of the first chain st you crocheted into.
Fasten off
Sew these to the paws of the arms of your bear
With purple make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: make 2sc into each st (12sc)
Fasten off
Sew these onto the paws of the legs of your bear
Stuff firmly and sew to the face
For the patches:
With orange make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: 2sc in each of the first 3sts
Fasten off
Sew this patch to the face of the bear
With green make a magic loop with 8sc
Round 1: (3sc in the first st, sc in the next st) 4 times to end (16sc)
Fasten off
Sew this to the body of the bear
With blue yarn ch4
Round 1: sc in the 2nd loop from hook, then sc in the next chain st. Make 3sc in the last chain st (the first one you made), then sc in the back of the previous chain st, before making 2sc into the back of the first chain st you crocheted into

Make 2 of each of the following 2 types of patches.

Round 1: sc in the 2nd loop from hook, then make 3sc into the next chain st (the first one that you made). Make 2sc into the back of the first chain st you crocheted into.

Sew these to the paws of the arms of your bear
With purple make a magic loop with 6sc
Round 1: make 2sc into each st (12sc)
Fasten off
Sew these onto the paws of the legs of your bear
After you've sewn these patches on you will need to add the stitching. Using 2 strands of black embroidery thread make repeated stitches along the outside of each of the patches, as can be seen below.
Finally, use black yarn to embroider the face onto your bear.
