You will need:

• Two green pipe-cleaners
• dk yarn in cream, medium green (usually referred to in the pattern just as 'green'), light green, black and a green which roughly matches the colour of your pipe-cleaner.
• A scrap of white 4ply yarn
• 2.5mm crochet hook
• Toy stuffing
• darning needle or similar for sewing up

For the body:
With green ch8

Sew this to the front of the body

For the legs (starting at the top): With green make a magic loop wit 6sc Round 1: 2sc in each st (12sc) Round 2: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, rep to end(18sc) Rounds 3 - 7: (5 rounds)sc in each st Round 8: (sc, sc2tog) 3 times, sc in the next 7sts sc2tog (14sc) Round 9: sc2tog 3 times, sc in the next st, sc2tog, sc in the last 3sts (10sc) Rounds 10 - 14: (5 rounds)sc in each st Fasten off

Stuff the bottom section of these.

Stuff the feet and sew them to the base of the legs. Then sew the legs to the sides of the body.

For the spines:
with light green ch46

For the 'eyebrows'(make 2):
with green make a magic loop with 4sc
Rounds 1 - 2: (2 rounds) sc in each st
Round 3: 2sc in the first st, sc in the next 3sts (5sc)
Fasten off neatly

For the horns (make 2):
with cream make a magic loop with 3sc
Round 1: sc in the first 2sts, 2sc in the last st of this round (4sc)
Round 2: sc in each st
Round 3: 2sc in the first st, sc in the next 3sts (5sc)
Round 4: sc in each st
Rounds 5: sc2tog, sc in the next 3sts (4sc)
Round 6: sc2tog, sc in the next 2sts (3sc)
Fasten off

sew the end of the horn (where you started crocheting) to the end of the 'eyebrow' (where you fastened off). Try to sew it so that the horn nestles inside the open bit of the 'eyebrow'.

Sew these to the head and use black yarn to embroider eyes underneath them. Use the white 4ply yarn to add highlights to these eyes.



For the wings:
For the skin (make 6):
With light green make a magic loop with 2sc. Ch1, turn
Row 1: 2sc in the first st, sc in the next st. ch1, turn (3sc)
Row 2: sc in each st. ch1, turn
Row 3: 2sc in the first st, sc in the next st, 2sc in the last st. ch2, turn (5sc)
Row 4: hdc in the first st, sc in the next st, slip 1, sc in the following st, hdc in the last st. ch1, turn (5sts)
Row 5: 2sc in the first st, sc in the next 3sts, 2sc in the last st. ch2, turn (7sc)
Row 6: dc in the first st, hdc in the next st, sc in the next st, slip 1, sc in the next st, hdc in the following st, dc in the last st (7sts)


For the frame (make 2):
cut two 10cm lengths of pipe cleaner and fold them in half
wind them together around the folded parts and bend them into roughly the right position
Place the skin sections in the gaps between the pipe cleaners and sew them in place, sewing over the top of the pipe-cleaner. Try to sew as close together as possible to cover up the pipe-cleaner.

Sew these to the sides of the body just above the legs

For the arms (make 2):
make a magic loop with 4sc
Rounds 1 - 2:  (2 rounds) sc in each st (4sc)
Round 3: sc in the first st, 2sc in the next st, sc in the following st, 2sc in the last st (6sc)
change to a 2mm hook
ch1, skip the next 4sts, slip the next 2sts
Fasten off
rejoin to round 3 to the next st after this section you just made, sc in this same st, ch1, skip 2 from base of chain, sc in the next st, ch1, make a slip stitch in the same st you crocheted when you last fastened on
rejoin to round 3 to the next st after this section you just made, sc in this same st and the next st, ch1, 
make a slip stitch in the same st you crocheted when you last fastened on. Fasten off

Sew these to the sides of the body just in front of the wings



For the nostrils (make 2):
make a magic loop with 3sc (but don't join it)
Fasten off

Sew these to the snout and use black yarn to embroider 'holes' onto them.
