This pattern is designed to fit most of the animals in my little animal collection (although I have made it for the little bear, the pattern for which can be found here)
Note:
- 'sc15' means 'sc in the next 15sts'
- 'fasten off neatly' refers to a special way of fastening off which is neater and makes it easier to see where you should be crocheting on the next round (also known as invisible fastening off). This involves pulling up your yarn through your stitch, threading the yarn underneath the second stitch from where you pulled your yarn up, then threading your yarn back through the top of this stitch and down through the back of the work. There is a very helpful site that explains it clearly found here. Just make sure when you do this that you thread your needle through the SECOND stitch after the last stitch you made, otherwise you will end up with an extra stitch which may mean that all of the following rounds are out of line with each other.
You will need:
- A 'little bear' (or another little animal), links to these patterns can be found here. It is much easier if you leave one of the ears (the one you want to attach the eyelet to) unattached
- Dk yarn in red and black
- Toy stuffing
- A darning needle (or similar) to sew up
- 4ply yarn in black
- Two safety pins
- A small length of chain (approx. 8cm long)
- A 0.8mm eyelet (and tools to fasten it)
For the left ear:
Make the ear in the same way as you made the other ear, but then attach an eyelet to it through the stitching before you attach it to the head (If you do it the other way round it is a lot more fiddly to attach the eyelet)

For the hair:
Cut a length of cardboard so that it is approx. 9.5cm wide, then wind the red dk yarn around it approx. 20 times. Cut the yarn on both ends to give you about 40 strips 9.5cm long, then attach these to the top of the head in a line. Attach them as you would attach most amigurumi hair: Fold each stand in half, pull the looped end through a stitch in the head, then thread the other end through this loop and pull tight.

To finish thread a safety pin through the muzzle and non-eyeletted ear. Thread each end of the chain through one of these safety pins and let it hang loosely.
